The African Development Bank (AfDB) has given Nigeria a $163 million loan to enhance wheat production. This announcement came from Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima. He was representing President Bola Tinubu at a visit mourning Sheikh Abubakar Giro’s passing in Argungu, Kebbi state.

Daily Post quoted Senator Shettima praising the government’s commitment. He said the administration sees food security as vital. Shettima noted, “The AfDB’s $163 million loan will aid wheat production. We’ll launch it soon. We’ll use 10,000 hectares in Kebbi and 50,000 in Jigawa.”

Furthermore, Shettima conveyed condolences from President Tinubu, who’s in India. He remembered Sheikh Giro as a dedicated scholar with humility.

The Emir of Argungu, HRH Sumaila Mohammed Mera, highlighted Sheikh Giro’s achievements and prayed for Nigeria. He thanked both leaders for their support.

Sheikh Bala Lau of the Izala Sect and other leaders shared these feelings, valuing the government’s empathy.

When the Vice President landed at Sir Ahmadu Bello Airport in Birnin Kebbi, State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris greeted him. The delegation included the Deputy Governor, the Minister of Agriculture, and other key members.
