Popular singer Abiola Akinbiyi, widely recognized as Bella Shmurda, has postponed his upcoming Canada tour in light of the tragic death of his colleague and close friend, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known in the music industry as Mohbad. The young artist’s death occurred on Tuesday, and he was just 27 years old.

On Saturday night, Bella Shmurda announced the decision to his followers on X (previously known as Twitter). He stated, “In light of recent events and unexpected circumstances, my Canada tour has been postponed. We’ll be announcing the new dates soon.”

According to The PUNCH, Bella Shmurda, who shared a close bond with the late Mohbad, had previously suggested during an interview that Mohbad consider parting ways with Marlians Record due to a dispute with his manager. Notably, the manager is related to the head of Marlians Record, Azeez Fashola, popularly called Naira Marley.

After the unexpected death of Mohbad, a rising star in the music industry, the artist’s management team felt it necessary to address the public regarding this heartbreaking incident. In a somber and official statement, they said, “With a heavy heart and a deep sense of loss, we confirm the untimely passing of our beloved Promise Oladimeji Aloba, affectionately and professionally known as Mohbad, or by his nickname, Imole, on September 12, 2023.”

Mohbad, throughout his career, was a beacon of optimism and his unwavering positivity was infectious to those around him. Even in the face of adversity, he maintained a hopeful outlook, touching the hearts of many. As the reality of this tragic event sets in, his family wishes to convey their heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming love, support, and prayers that have poured in from fans, colleagues, and well-wishers alike.

They further implore everyone to uphold the values of respect and empathy during this delicate time, especially when it comes to their need for privacy as they navigate through their grief. They concluded the statement by acknowledging that Mohbad, or “Imole” as he was fondly called, which means ‘light’ in Yoruba, has finally found his rest and peace after a life that shone brightly. The statement was disseminated widely to his loyal fan base through various social media platforms, including Instagram and X, to ensure that the message reached as many as possible.
