Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and close ally of former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, has issued a strong warning about the future of Nigeria’s leadership. Eze believes that Nigerians, tired of the current hardships, will vote out President Tinubu in the 2027 elections due to the country’s deteriorating state under his watch.
Eze’s comments came in response to statements made by Chief Tony Okocha, the caretaker chairman of the APC in Rivers State. Okocha suggested that Amaechi is planning to use his influence to become the leader of the APC in Rivers State and the South-South region, aiming to challenge President Tinubu in the 2027 elections. He accused Amaechi of not supporting Tinubu during the last presidential campaign and instead working for the opposition.
In response, Eze criticized these allegations, stating they were part of a smear campaign to tarnish Amaechi’s reputation. He argued that instead of focusing on personal attacks, the party should be addressing the pressing issues facing Nigerians today.
Chief Eze didn’t hold back when discussing President Tinubu’s performance. He accused Tinubu’s administration of failing on multiple fronts, citing poor management, policy failures, widespread corruption, and soaring unemployment. According to Eze, these failures have led to increasing food prices and a general decline in the quality of life for Nigerians.
Eze stated that these problems are giving Nigerians plenty of reasons to want change in the next election. “The challenges we face—like unemployment, insecurity, and rising food costs—are all tools that the people will use to vote Tinubu out in 2027,” he said.
Eze also touched on the internal struggles within the APC, particularly regarding leadership roles in Rivers State and the South-South region. He pointed out that when the APC was formed, Tinubu was named the National Leader, while Amaechi became the leader for the South-South. Despite the changes in the presidency, these leadership roles have caused ongoing friction within the party.
Eze referenced a recent court ruling by Justice Sika H. Aprioku of the State High Court in Port Harcourt, which he says strongly supports the reinstatement of democratically elected officials within the party. He argued that the court found the appointment of a temporary committee to replace these officials as a violation of both the party’s constitution and the rights of those officials to a fair hearing.
In his final remarks, Eze called for unity within the APC and urged its members to focus on solving the country’s real problems rather than engaging in unnecessary political battles. He emphasized that the party should prioritize addressing the needs of the Nigerian people over internal conflicts.
