The Nigeria House of Representatives has stated that it will pero from September 17, 2024, instead of reassembling on that date as earlier planned, but on September 24, 2024.
This new date was announced to the assembly through a letter by Dr Yahaya Danzaria, Clerk of the House as the leadership of the house decided to extend the recess time to enable the members to fully carry out their over sight functions and constituency interface.
According to House Spokesperson Akin Rotimi, the members utilized the time to attend to pertinent constituency matters, as well as exercise supervisory role of MDAs in accordance with provisions of the 1999 Constitution.
Most of these activities were crucial in helping the members remain in touch with their constituencies as well as supervising government operations.
The Lawmakers are expected to focus on the following bills following their return form recess
Major business starts immediately after the House resumes in early September 24, 2024.” These are: Inauguration of the new board of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) and Joint Senate/House ad-hoc Committees on the Petroleum Industry Investigation, This is slated for Wednesday, 25th September, 2024.
