Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo has announced the appointment of Dr. Law Mefor as commissioner for information after sacking Mr. Paul Nwosu few hours before.
Speaking while administering the oath of office at the State Executive Council Chambers in Awka, Governor Soludo noting that there is no better time than now for the need for accurate dissemination of information across the state in all sectors, Governor Soludo expressed confidence to rejuvenate the state’s information apparatus through Mefor.
Anambra’s information ministry can be modernized, according to Mefor, a writer, media specialist and public speaker with over 25 years of experience.
According to Vanguard, His strategies are media literacy to address issues of fake news, use of technology to increase productivity and reach, and working closely with other media houses to ensure the ministry meets the society’s expectations.
Mefor’s vision for Anambra : taking her information ministry to a new era
Mefor brings into the Anambra State new appraisal model in politics, drawing from research skills, analytics and media exports. He emphasized on awareness creation on how the public can discern between what is relevant and inaccurate information as part of his larger goal of overhauling the state’s information organization system.
The Soludo led government is optimistic that Mefor’s years of experience coupled with his creative input will complement and add value to Anambra’s information sharing system of government in line with it’s ideal of transparency and optimized communication.
