Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has committed to prioritizing investment in critical infrastructure, business, and innovations across the state. He made this commitment while receiving distinguished guests during the Award/Dinner Night. The event was organized to mark the 37th anniversary of the creation of Katsina State and took place at the Presidential Banquet Hall, Government House, Katsina, on Tuesday.
Governor Radda emphasized the need to invest in sectors that would propel the state’s growth. He also reiterated his focus on securing lives and property through the recently established Ministry for Internal Security and Home Affairs.
Investments in security
Radda highlighted ongoing security efforts in the state, including the recruitment of 1,456 members of the Community Watch Corps. He noted that the corps members have been equipped with improved tools to enhance their effectiveness.
Additionally, he announced plans to recruit another 500 corps members soon. This will strengthen collaboration between security agencies in combating banditry and other criminal activities. “Our goal is to safeguard the state from escalating insecurity,” Radda said. “We are coordinating closely with security organizations to achieve this.”
Effective changes in education and health sectors
In the education sector, Radda detailed significant progress. His administration has recruited 7,325 teachers and renovated several primary and secondary schools across the state. Furthermore, the state’s Foreign Scholarship Program has sponsored 109 students. These students are studying Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, and MBBS in China and Egypt.
According to the report from The Punch, in the health sector, Radda outlined efforts to enhance healthcare delivery in the state. Contracts have been signed to upgrade three primary health centers to full-fledged general hospitals in Faskari, Dandume, and Charanchi Local Government Areas. This upgrade aims to reduce patient congestion at general hospitals while improving health services across Katsina State.
The governor also mentioned that the state has renovated over 100 Primary Health Care (PHC) centers. He intends to establish a functional clinic in each of the state’s 361 political wards.
