Comptroller General of Immigration Kemi Nandap said the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has begun modernising its border security infrastructure for national security and management systems.
Nandap stressed the use of advanced technology and strategies to protect Nigeria’s boarders, according to NIS Spokesman Kenneth Udo in a statement.

“Nandap updated officers on the progress as she toured immigration commands in Lagos, Ogun, and other South-West states.”
The plan also includes new immigration initiatives aimed at strengthening border management through the use of modern technology to monitor and protect the nation’s frontiers, she said.
Furthermore she assured officers that their welfare and capacity building will remain a priority, urge them to remain professional in the discharge of their duties.
Working with stakeholders to build border security
Nandap also urged for continuous collaboration among border communities, and security agencies. She enhanced intelligence sharing with sister agencies and stirred community support in fighting cross border crime as she held joint security meetings with sister agencies.
While on tour she met the Oba of Lagos and state governors from Lagos and Ogun state to discuss possible improvements to border security.
According to The Punch, The tour is part of Nandap’s broader mission to sensitize officers, and strengthen the infrastructure at the nation’s borders in order to complement the collective effort of ensuring security of the nation.
