Sanwo-Olu pledges to finish NYSC permanent camp by December
At Friday’s swearing-in ceremony for the corps members of 2024 Batch C Stream 1, Sanwo-Olu committed to finishing the permanent orientation camp.
The NYSC’s temporary orientation camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, served as the venue for the event. Mobolaji Ogunlende, the state’s Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, represented Sanwo-Olu.
In December, the permanent camp will be ready, the governor said.
Lagos welcomes 4,335 new corps members for service year
Under this stream, 4,335 corps members—1,484 men and 2,851 women—are now serving in Lagos.
However, during their orientation course, a few corps members were dispatched to Oyo and Osun states.
According to Punch, corps members sent to Lagos were exhorted by Sanwo-Olu to make full use of the orientation session in order to acquire useful skills.
“The Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development initiative offers a variety of mentorship and entrepreneurial programs,” he stated. Since these chances are meant to assist you in becoming financially independent and self-sufficient both during and after your service year, I strongly advise you to take advantage of them. Make the most of this opportunity to network and form deep connections.
Ogunlende, who is also the NYSC Governing Board’s state chairman, urged corps members to stay involved, observe camp regulations, and take full use of the orientation.
“Remain inside the camp, follow instructions from camp officials, and get ready both mentally and physically for your main assignments in the upcoming months,” he said.
Christiana Salmwang, the NYSC Coordinator in Lagos, expressed gratitude to Sanwo-Olu for his administration’s backing of the NYSC initiative. She also exhorted corps members to dedicate themselves to national development and accept the orientation program. “You can contribute to the development of our country. Be faithful, honest, and united in that capacity,” Salmwang advised.
On behalf of Justice Kazeem Alogba, the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Oyindamola Ogala administered the oath of loyalty to the corps members.
