One day after grieving the loss of his mother, Maryam Namadi, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi lost his oldest son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi, in a car accident on Thursday.

According to sources, Abdulwahab, 24, was on his way to Dutse with some buddies from Kafin Hausa when his car lost control and crashed. At Dutse General Hospital, some of his pals who were in the collision are undergoing treatment.

The governor’s principal press secretary, Hamisu Gumel, confirmed the tragedy in a statement, saying, “With a heavy heart, Governor Umar Namadi announces the passing of his beloved son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi.”

On Thursday, December 26, 2024, the 24-year-old passed away in a horrific car accident on the Dutse-Kafin-Hausa Road.

According to Islamic customs, funeral ceremonies were taking place in Kafin Hausa, Gumel continued.

Condolences pour in for Governor Namadi over double family tragedy

Governor Umar Namadi and his wife, Abdulwahab’s parents, and a number of siblings survive him.

“The governor lamented the death of his mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi, just one day prior to this tragic incident,” the statement continued.

As stated by Punch, Jigawa State has been rocked by the consecutive defeats, and locals and government representatives have expressed their sympathies to the distraught governor and his family.
