Oyo begins teacher appointment letter distribution across all LGAs
According to Nureni Adeniran, the state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) chairman, the distribution will take place at the Universal Basic Education offices in each local government area around the state. In the state capital of Ibadan, Adeniran made the news while meeting with education secretaries.
Adeniran emphasized the board’s zero-tolerance attitude for exam misconduct and advised the incoming instructors to embrace creative and contemporary teaching techniques. Additionally, he mentioned that official teacher appointments begin on January 1, 2025.
Adeniran stated that certain local governments are overstaffed while others are experiencing a teacher shortage in order to redress inequities. Fairness and balanced staffing will be guaranteed via a redistribution exercise.
“You are expected to be innovative, flexible, gifted, and forward-thinking as young educators,” he stated. “We invite you to join us in our mission to transform the subsector of basic education.”
Makinde addresses teacher shortages in rural areas through appointments
Governor Seyi Makinde’s initiatives to alleviate teacher shortages, especially in rural areas affected by retirements and other staffing issues, were commended by Adeniran. He emphasized the governor’s dedication to enhancing the state’s basic education system.
“This demonstrates our continued efforts to realign Oyo State’s basic education system with the campaign pledges made by Governor Seyi Makinde,” Adeniran stated.
He disclosed that beginning Monday, the first 5,600 of the 7,000 selected individuals will get their letters of appointment. Applicants for caretaker posts and teachers with impairments are expected to pick up their letters straight from the SUBEB headquarters in Agodi.
In order to ensure ongoing infrastructure improvement in basic and junior secondary schools, Adeniran said that the state government had paid ₦2.5 billion as a counterpart fund for the UBEC/SUBEB intervention projects in 2022 and 2023.
As stated by Punch, Adeniran congratulated the incoming instructors and encouraged them to maintain the highest levels of behavior and professional ethics. In addition to praising Governor Makinde for authorizing the hiring, he pointed out that Oyo State is now leading its peers in basic education thanks to the administration’s efforts.
