Less than a month after being reassigned from the Ministry of Transportation, Kano State Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Muhammad Diggol, has tendered his resignation.
Yusuf acknowledges resignation by Governor
In the statement, the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, said that Governor Abba Yusuf had received Diggol’s resignation. He accepted it with gratitude for his dedication and service. No official explanation of the resignation was provided, but the governor wished him success in his future endeavors.
The statement read: “Engr. Diggol was very appreciated by Governor Yusuf for his selfless service, unwavering commitment and timely work ethic.”
Diggol’s resignation caught in its political undercurrents
The resignation of Engr. Diggol is at a time when the party has been accused of internal brawls. The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) had suspended him before he stepped down as it accused him of disloyalty, abuse of power and creating discord in its ranks. The suspension was at the same time as that of the former State’s Secretary to the Government, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi.
Appointed as the Commissioner for Transportation on assuming office in 2023, Diggol was shifted out of the Ministry of Transportation and into the Ministry of Project Monitoring and Evaluation during a cabinet reshuffle earlier. His resignation is generally seen as a result of party tensions and reshuffle.
