NSIB, Oyo prioritize transport safety

In a statement released on Sunday by the Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance, NSIB, Bimbo Oladeji, Captain Badeh lauded Governor Makinde for his visionary leadership and commitment to infrastructural development. He emphasized the critical role of safety in sustaining progress across all sectors.

“We are here to commend your exceptional leadership and to explore pathways for collaboration to foster a culture of transport safety in Oyo State,” said Badeh. “NSIB remains committed to ensuring that safety is prioritized in every development initiative. By working with state governments, we can create safer environments and reduce transportation-related incidents nationwide.”

Governor Makinde, in his response, applauded NSIB’s proactive approach to safety and expressed his administration’s willingness to collaborate on initiatives that enhance safety protocols across the state. He underscored the importance of learning from past incidents to prevent future accidents.

“Your work is crucial in ensuring that lessons from previous accidents lead to preventive measures,” Makinde said. “We are committed to fostering a culture of safety and look forward to working closely with NSIB to achieve this goal.”

Collaboration strengthens transport safety measures

The discussions centered on areas of mutual interest, including capacity-building programs, enhanced safety protocols, and strategies to raise public awareness about transportation safety. Both parties acknowledged the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure effective implementation of safety measures.

Governor Makinde highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects in Oyo State and reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing safety as a core component of development. He also called for continuous education and public awareness campaigns to instill a safety-conscious mindset among citizens.

The meeting concluded with a joint resolution to strengthen collaboration and roll out impactful safety programs. The NSIB pledged to provide technical support and training for Oyo State personnel, while the state government committed to integrating safety measures into its transport policies.

This partnership underscores the critical role of cooperation between federal agencies and state governments in advancing transport safety and reducing accidents across Nigeria.
