Eddy Olafseo who serves on Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) reconciliation panel advocates forming a political alliance with Labour Party’s Peter Obi to defeat All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 elections.
During his appearance on *Politics Today* he discussed how forming strategic partnerships would build vote strength.
According to Olafeso the PDP should establish partnerships with prominent political leaders since one political party cannot defeat the APC through independent means.
Ghana’s political development revealed that united opposition can win elections according to Olafeso.
Internal divisions and electoral setbacks
Peter Obi gave up his PDP candidacy in 2022 to compete under the Labour Party where he gathered more than six million votes for the 2023 presidential race. Peter Obi came in third place during the presidential election defeated by APC nominee Bola Tinubu and PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar.
According to Olafeso PDP lost because its internal conflicts weakened the party so it needs unity to succeed in future elections.
His message called for the party leadership to create unity which would form a powerful group to mount an effective challenge against the ruling party.
