Two years after Taiwo Akinkunmi’s death the Nigerian government issued N30 million as financial assistance to his family who designed the national flag of the nation.
NOA Director-General Lanre Issa-Onilu presented the donation check during the official ceremony at Taiwo Akinkunmi’s home in Ibadan.
According to the administration of President Bola Tinubu, Akinkunmi received two pledges: a state funeral and financial assistance. Akinkunmi passed away aged 87 on August 29, 2023.
The national identity contribution of Akinkunmi led NOA to offer this financial donation as their way of expressing gratitude.
