KEY POINTS
- Forensic evidence demonstrated that Professor Ndifon possessed no nude photographs across his mobile device.
- The archaic WhatsApp apps made it impossible to extract any data from the device during the process.
- The court scheduled another hearing date at April 3 because the legal proceedings needed extra time.
CSP Babagana Mingali provided testimony at a Federal High Court in Abuja that no nude photographs existed in the mobile phones of suspended UNICAL Law Faculty Dean Prof. Cyril Ndifon.
Forensic report contradicts allegations
The forensic expert Babagana from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) revealed through analysis that he discovered no illicit materials on the devices whereas Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had accused them of such contents.
The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission had claimed Ndifon asked a female academic for secretive sexual images through WhatsApp.
The expert stated that outdated WhatsApp applications obstructed information retrieval from examining the devices. Further analysis depended on an update to the device apps according to his professional recommendation.
Case continues in April
Through cross-examination Babagana confirmed the settlement of ICPC, EFCC and police which operate forensic labs for their investigation work. The court of Justice James Omotosho postipated the case proceedings until April 3 for the defense presentation to commence.
