All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman (North West) Garba Muhammad suggested former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai should abandon their ambition for the 2027 presidential run.
Muhammad warned Atiku through a statement which said his consideration of another presidential bid should be wiped off his mind because he should focus on being an elder statesman rather than seeking power at age 80.
According to Muhammad, Atiku should not form alliances with unsatisfied politicians because he brings no fresh ideas to the presidential race against Bola Tinubu in 2027.
The political advisor alerted Atiku about his previous involvement with asset privatization and subsidy reforms which might not find support from votebanks.
APC cautions as Muhammed advices el-rufai
According to Muhammad he worried about the ex-APC member el-Rufai because of his departure from the party which he helped establish through years of dedication to its growth.
The politician emphasized that el-Rufai should choose between returning to APC leadership or exiting public service from politics because the former governor gave his commitment to support the APC and President Tinubu.
Muhammad advised el-Rufai against political blunders by demanding him to evaluate his current positions particularly his stance on South presidential term limit.
Muhammad praised North-West success under the current government because the region holds important leadership positions including the House of Representatives Speaker and Deputy Senate President. The zone accomplished an unprecedented milestone in Nigerian politics through its appointments to key positions in government and its service chief roles.
