No Apology from Fubara Yet, Wike Replies Tompolo
The FCT Minister Mr. Nyesom Wike refused to entertain requests for reconciliation from former militant leader Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo). Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains suspended without seeking forgiveness from his wrongdoings according to Wike.
Wike said pardon is possible only when a party accepts responsibility for their offense followed by a formal pardon request and Fubara has not initiated this process. According to Wike’s words through his media aide Lere Olayinka there were issues that damaged their former friendly bond after Fubara broke Wike’s initial support.
Rivers women demand action on police and state of emergency
The Rivers Women Unite Prayer Group has demanded that State Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju exit his duties immediately. The group raised objections regarding the police administration of demonstrations resulting from the state emergency authorization.
The women protest the emergency rule because they want Governor Fubara returned to office while insisting Rivers State fully regains its democratic functions.
The emergency rule harms the economy by forcing businesses to shut down and redirecting planned investments according to the women who believe this situation worsens the state’s citizens’ overall challenges especially affecting women and children. These leaders asked multinational organizations to take diplomatic action for establishing democratic control of Rivers State.
