Soldiers Foil Terrorist Attacks in Borno, Capture Seven Insurgents

The Nigerian Army troops deployed under Operation HADIN KAI  foiled an attempted terrorists raid on their Base in Izge, Borno State in a major security breakthrough.

The insurgents made a joint assault which was repelled by troops after a firefight that was prolonged, acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Reuben Kovangiya said in a statement.

‘Courageous troops during the firefight against terrorist attacks, which lasted for hours, maintained very high level of determination and neutralised the terrorists while others retreated in disarray,’ the statement read.

Seven captured, multiple items recovered

Kovangiya also verified that seven insurgents were captured alive with the other being neutralized during and after the confrontation. In addition, he said troops chased the fleeing fighters and continued to degrade their strength and morale.

Second attack on mallamfatori also stopped

Troops also foiled an attempted attack in Mallamfatori in a separate incident. The army spokesperson noted however that the terrorists faced dire consequences, without specifying the casualty figures.

Army commends troops’ resolve on terrorist attacks

Its personnel were hailed by the the military and being urged to continue to be vigilant and persistent in putting pressure on the terrorist elements in the area.

‘With the successful foiling of the attack, the troops have shown their commitment to decisively dealing with these terrorists once and for all so that the region can be secured and the civilians are protected,’ the army said.
