Calls for cabinet reshuffle grow louder nationwide.
Ezekiel Nataro, a well-known opposition leader, has requested President Bola Tinubu to remove what he labels “underperforming ministers.” He said that if the cabinet changes are put off, Nigeria could risk greater economic stagnation and societal upheaval.
At a news conference in Abuja, Nataro noted that the administration’s reputation depended on achievements that can be assessed, not on what it says. “People in Nigeria are getting tired of waiting.” He told Tinubu to do something and said, “Ministers who can’t deliver should be shown the door.”
Tinubu told to get rid of ministers who aren’t doing their duties well
According to a report by Vanguard news, people are getting more and more angry about how the main ministries are doing one year into Tinubu’s administration, as shown by the comments. Even though the administration has promised substantial reforms in energy, security, and agriculture, critics claim that development is still slow and uneven.
Nataro notably chastised the ministries in charge of food security, power supply, and youth employment, stating they hadn’t even fulfilled the lowest standards. He claimed that people are increasingly angrier since inflation is over 30% and unemployment is rising.
“People are hurting, but some ministers are acting like it’s a ceremonial duty,” Nataro added. “Now is not the time for mediocrity.”
People are putting more and more pressure on Tinubu’s cabinet.
More and more people are angry with several well-known cabinet members. People from civil society have rallied in Lagos and Kano, demanding explanations concerning poor service performance.
Analysts suggest that Tinubu, who ran on a platform of change and efficiency, needs to find a way to combine his political duties. He could have problems with his party if he fires ministers, but he could also lose support from the public if he does nothing.
Adewale Olukoya, a political expert in Lagos, stated, “The president is stuck between results and loyalty.” “But Nigerians wanted change, not excuses.”
Growing calls demand removal of non-performing ministers
Nataro remarked that the more Tinubu waits to act, the less likely people will be to trust him again. He remarked, “This isn’t about politics; it’s about Nigeria’s survival.”
He also claimed that changing the cabinet will send a clear message that who you know, not how well you do your job, will determine how long you stay in government. People who support the opposition leader agreed with him, claiming that terrible policies are hurting common Nigerians the most.
The presidency has not yet responded to Nataro’s views. But senior aides have privately said that several ministers are not fulfilling expectations, which has led to suspicions that a change would happen shortly.
Right now, the fight over who is in charge in Tinubu’s cabinet is probably going to get worse. The administration is under a lot of pressure to show meaningful results in an economy that is having problems with high inflation, a weak currency, and persistent security difficulties.
