Apapa Customs Hits Record N20.1 Billion Daily Revenue

KEY POINTS

  • Apapa Customs posts record N20.1billion daily revenue, highest in NCS history.
  • Achievement comes just 24 hours after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed office.
  • Record surpasses previous N18billion daily collection.

The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set a new daily revenue record of N20.1 billion, barely 24 hours after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed leadership.

Highest daily collection on record

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs Tunde Ayagbalo, the milestone marks the highest daily revenue ever recorded by any Customs Command using the Unified Customs Management System, popularly known as B’Odogwu.

The figure surpasses the previous record of N18 billion set under the command’s former leadership.

Oshoba charges officers to aim higher

Comptroller Oshoba praised officers and stakeholders for their commitment but emphasized that the achievement was only the beginning.

“This is not the time for celebration. I foresee greater achievements for Apapa Command under my leadership. We must remain focused and committed to surpassing this milestone,” Oshoba said.

He reminded officers that “outstanding results are the real proof of hard work, dedication, and uncompromising disposition to duty,” urging them to sustain the momentum.

B’Odogwu as a game-changer

The new record highlights the role of B’Odogwu, the Customs’ unified management platform. Oshoba described as a key step toward a modern, technology-driven administration.

“B’Odogwu is not just an innovation, it is a necessity in building a more efficient customs system. It will strengthen Nigeria’s position as Africa’s largest economy and reinforce our trade facilitation agenda,” he added.

Oshoba cautioned against complacency:
“I commend my team and stakeholders for this milestone, but it’s not time to clap yet, because clapping means removing your two hands from work to celebrate.”
