Promotions tied to ethics and service delivery.
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has promoted 523 workers from different levels, which supports merit-based career advancement and shows that the organisation will not tolerate extortion. The announcement comes as the commission works harder to improve service delivery and accountability in Nigeria’s national identity infrastructure.
The numbers show that 35 people were promoted to Chief Identity Officer (GL 14), 109 to Assistant Chief Identity Officer (GL 13), 113 to Principal Identity Officer (GL 12), 82 to Senior Identity Officer (GL 10), and 130 to Identity Officer 1 (GL 9). The promotions were across operational, technical, and administrative units, which shows that the people who got them were recognised for consistently doing a good job and helping NIMC meet its goals.
DG calls for moral behaviour and no tolerance
Dr. Engr. Aliyu Coker-Odusote, the Director-General, congratulated the staff who were promoted and told them to see the promotion as a chance to serve the country better. She made it clear that promotions are based on performance and good behaviour, and she repeated the commission’s zero-tolerance policy on extortion and any other kind of corrupt behaviour.
Coker-Odusote said, “The honesty of our workers is very important.” “All staff must follow the highest standards of behaviour while doing their jobs on the NIN project and other identity services.”
Stay focused on hard work and the NIN project’s success
The DG also told all employees to keep working hard in 2026 so that the National Identification Number (NIN) project can be a success. She said again that the commission cares about its employees and the dignity of work. She also said that motivated and disciplined employees are key to building public trust in the national identity system.
NIMC management stressed that these promotions are part of larger changes that will make the organisation more efficient, open, and helpful. Officials said that making sure that career advancement is based on honesty keeps the commission a trustworthy and responsible organisation that can provide accurate identity information across the country.
The commission also told the public that all official identity services follow approved rules and prices. They said that any reports of illegal fees or extortion will be looked into very carefully.
NIMC wants to strike a balance between recognising staff and strong governance with these steps. They want to make sure that promotions not only reward merit but also uphold the moral standards that are essential to keeping faith in Nigeria’s national identity program.
