Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi State, has sacked Ibrahim Gambo Galadima, the commissioner for internal security and home affairs, as part of what the state government described as a minor cabinet reshuffle.

The decision was announced on Monday in a statement issued by Mukhtar Gidado, the governor’s special adviser on media and publicity. The statement was shared on the governor’s official communication channels.

According to the announcement, Galadima’s removal takes immediate effect and forms part of a periodic review of the state executive council aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery across Bauchi State.

Explaining the rationale behind the decision to sack Galadima,  the Bauchi State Government said the reshuffle was intended to inject fresh ideas into the administration and reposition the cabinet for better performance.

“The decision re-emphasizes the Government’s resolve to periodically effect changes in order to continuously inject fresher ideas to strengthen governance, reposition the cabinet for improved service delivery, and ensure the effective implementation of Government policies and programmes across the state,” the statement read.

The government stressed that the move aligns with the administration’s broader goal of enhancing efficiency, accountability, and responsiveness within the executive arm of government.

Governor appreciates Galadima’s service to the state

Despite the removal, Governor Mohammed expressed appreciation to Ibrahim Gambo Galadima for his contributions to the state during his time in office.

The statement noted that the governor thanked the former commissioner for his service to Bauchi State and wished him well in his future endeavours, signalling an amicable parting rather than a disciplinary action.

The governor also used the announcement to reassure residents of Bauchi State of his administration’s continued commitment to peace, security, and good governance.

According to the media aide, Governor Mohammed reaffirmed that safeguarding lives and property remains a top priority of his government, alongside the effective implementation of policies designed to promote stability and development across the state.

The Bauchi State Government disclosed that a replacement for the sacked commissioner would be announced in due course.

Until then, the administration is expected to make interim arrangements to ensure that the activities of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs continue without disruption.
