The Nigeria Immigration Service has deployed a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to help Nigerians there process pending, new and renewal passport applications.
The move forms part of a wider push to ease and streamline passport services for Nigerians in the diaspora. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, directed the Comptroller-General of Immigration, K. N. Nandap, to send the team from the NIS headquarters. According to the service, the team arrives in the UK on August 10, 2026, and will work with the Nigerian High Commission to clear applications and cut delays.
Who can use the exercise
The team will tour designated cities across the UK to run passport enrolment and processing, so eligible applicants in different areas can take part without travelling far. Moreover, the NIS said the intervention covers three groups: people with pending applications, new applicants, and holders of passports that expire in less than a year and want to renew. It framed the visits as a way to bring services closer to Nigerians spread across the country.
Furthermore, applicants must bring their completed forms and proof of payment to enrolment. The service said it would publish the full schedule, including cities, dates, venues and enrolment times, in a separate announcement, and it urged applicants not to travel to any venue until it confirms those details.

Still, the NIS asked applicants to follow the Nigerian High Commission’s official channels for updates. Therefore, travellers should wait for the published dates rather than turn up early and risk a wasted trip. Applicants with enquiries or complaints can reach the service by email at passport.london@immigration.gov.ng and through a WhatsApp-only line.
In addition, the NIS said its digital channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, stay fully operational during the exercise, while the home delivery service also remains available. Consequently, the service said it stays committed to efficient, transparent and responsive passport delivery for Nigerians at home and abroad.
