Dr. Peter Odili, the pro-chancellor and founder of PAMO University of Medical Sciences in Port Harcourt, announced that the Rivers State Government had automatically hired 76 graduates at the institution’s fourth convocation event on Friday.
Governor Fubara grants automatic jobs to PAMO graduates
Following the state’s new minimum wage laws, Odili, a former governor of Rivers State, also declared a 100% pay raise for all university employees.
According to Odili, PAMO has produced 223 graduates who received character and academic training. Cultism, gangsterism, harassment, sorting, and most importantly, drug use are all unacceptable to us.Â
According to Punch, Odili affirmed that all staff pay would be raised to meet the minimum wage with the board chairman’s permission. “Now coming from the Governor, who has given all the graduates of this university automatic employment through his Ministry of Health,” he continued.
Odili praised Governor Siminalayi Fubara, describing him as a strong leader who has persevered in the face of political setbacks.
“The Governor, His Excellency, is a tenacious warrior. He is strong and has remained steadfast in his leadership. No governor in Nigeria has had to deal with the difficulties he has,” Odili stated.
Convocation celebrates milestones, inaugurates new facilities
As part of the celebration, Fubara also inaugurated the 500-seat Sir Siminalayi Fubara Lecture Theatre and a cutting-edge medical library with e-library capabilities.
Fubara stated his resolve to leave a legacy of significant development despite obstacles. In recognition of his achievements to the organisation and society, he was also awarded a Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa).
“In our state, we are promoting the cause of peace, security, and impartial development,” Fubara stated. Our mission is to responsibly manage the resources that God has given us to develop our state and communities and attain the highest standards of security, peace, and prosperity.
Fubara praised Odili’s idea to build PAMO University and pointed out how it will affect medical education in Nigeria.
“As Nigeria’s first private medical university, PAMO is renowned for its dedication to quality education and training, which is reflected in its mission. to produce top-tier medical professionals,” he stated.
Chancellor of PAMO Abdulsalami Abubakar praised Fubara’s decision to increase the university’s scholarship program from 100 to 150 students.
Of the 76 graduates, she reported that three graduated with First Class Honours, 23 graduated with Upper Division Second Class Honours, 25 graduated with Lower Division Second Class Honours, and 25 graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degrees.
