Sule made the statement Thursday while meeting with a delegation from the Azara community, led by Sarkin Azara Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim, at the Government House in Lafia.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Addra, the governor expressed disappointment over the theft, calling it a setback for the state’s efforts to enhance food security and provide relief to residents.
“While the state government is pleased with the yield, we are saddened by the level of theft during the harvest,” Sule said. He described the criminals’ actions as unfortunate, particularly as the state works to boost food production and combat hunger.
“This level of theft is disheartening, especially at a time when we are doing everything possible to bring relief to our people and ensure food security in Nasarawa and beyond,” he said.
According to Punch, Sule issued a stern warning to those responsible, urging them to cease such activities. He vowed that the government would take decisive action against anyone caught stealing from the farm.
Despite setback, Sule reaffirms Nasarawa’s commitment to food security
Despite the setback, the governor reassured residents of his administration’s commitment to agricultural development.
“We will not be deterred. Nasarawa State, as an agricultural hub, must have its government leading the way in agricultural activities,” Sule said.
He also thanked the traditional rulers and residents for their cooperation, which he said had contributed to the success of the farm since the start of the government’s agricultural program in the community.
