Former Anambra State Governor and former Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, has urged Nigerians to adopt unity, compassion and prayer during their Christmas celebrations.

In a statement issued on Tuesday via his media office in Abuja, Ngige encouraged Christians to contemplate the birth of Jesus Christ and to pray for the nation’s peace, advancement and prosperity.

Prayer for our leaders and the Nation

Ngige encouraged Nigerians to seek divine guidance for the country’s leaders across all branches and levels of government to ensure they succeed in addressing the nation’s challenges.

“The holiness and solemnity of this period offers an opportunity for quiet reflection by Nigerians on their individual lives and on the life of the nation,” Ngige said.

“I appeal to everyone to pray fervently for our leaders, that they may be guided to serve our country effectively.”

He added that while Nigeria continues to face difficulties, the message of Christmas, embodied in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, provides hope and a path toward unity.

A call for compassion and love

Ngige highlighted the significance of Christ’s message of love and care, urging Christians to emulate His example by showing compassion to the less privileged in society.

“Christ brought love to the unloved, care to the uncared-for, and hope to the hopeless. During this period, let us show kindness to others and focus on uplifting those in need,” he said.

Ngige also emphasized the importance of fostering harmony and peace among Nigerians, regardless of their differences in creed or ethnicity.

“Let us use this season to imbibe peace and learn to live in harmony with one another,” he said.

Message of hope and joy

Concluding his Christmas message, Ngige wished Nigerians a joyful and fulfilling holiday season.

“May Christmas brighten our faces, irrespective of whatever challenges confront us as individuals and as a nation. May we feel joyful, and may all our dreams come to fruition this Christmas,” Ngige said.
