Former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung who spoke on the cabal surrounding President Bola Tinubu described it as more powerful and dangerous more powerful and dangerous than the one during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s time.
On Tuesday, Dalung said the sophistication of the current cabal’s is greater than its incursion is threat to effective governance.
Tinubu’s cabal, educated and strategic
Dalung alleged that Tinubu’s cabal comprises highly educated and ambitious men skilled in navigating power dynamics.
They are so influential, he contended, because of their ability to manipulate government, suppress information and limit access to the president.
Dalung said the people are educated and also know what power is. “They are more dangerous than any cabal in the history of this country, because they can manipulate power, cheat death, stifle information, and control access to the president.”
Comparison with Buhari’s cabal
As opposed to Dalung, Buhari’s cabal is less sophisticated, with no political or administrative depth, he said. He argued that their parochial interests and limited understanding of the strategic dilemmas they faced undermined their overall impact on governance.
He emphasized Buhari’s cabal for having no experience in politics, public administration, or governance, noting that their narrow understanding of power relations and self-interest severely constrained their activities.
A danger to the governance and posterity
The denial, Dalung said, is an insult to the integrity of the nation and its political system. He warned that the Tinubu cabal could isolate the president and worsen the lot of ordinary Nigerians.
“What are the Nigerians rejoicing over in the policies of this present government?” Certainly not,” Dalung said. “People are angry, they’re frustrated and they’re not talking well of the government or the country itself.”
A call for accountability
Dalung referenced Chapter 2 of the Nigerian Constitution, asserting that the fundamental purpose of government is to promote the well-being of its citizens.
He asked if Tinubu’s administration is carrying out this mandate of four years, transparency and accountability in the governance of this nation to ease the heart of Nigeria.
