Mudashiru Obasa regained his position as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly after Mojisola Meranda stepped down as the legislative leader.
In January 2025 excessive corruption charges forced Obasa out as Speaker so Meranda replaced him becoming the first female speaker of the Assembly’s history. The period of Meranda’s leadership lasted just 49 days before she submitted her resignation on March 3, 2025 due to leadership complications caused by Obasa’s impeachment.
After the departure of Meranda Obasa assumed the position of Speaker through his colleagues’ backing.
Obasa pledges stability and service
When he took office Obasa thanked the legislators for their party allegiance while he promised to defend and serve the residents of Lagos.
The Assembly guarantees to Lagos residents that it remains fully devoted to protect their interests. As per our duties we serve as their representation and we have successfully fulfilled our responsibilities he stressed.
The Lagos State House of Assembly operates as an honest institution that uses its competency to settle disagreements internally for the advantage of both the organization and the party.
Before finishing his remarks he expressed gratitude toward his colleagues while declaring his dedication to maintain work environments of peace with love under harmonious conditions.
