During his meeting with Senate officials Senator Godswill Akpabio urged Nigeria to foster stronger ties with China because China serves as an exceptional example of strategic leadership and developmental achievements.
Nigeria-China partnership to strengthen bilateral ties
During his meeting with the National Committee delegation of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) which Hu Chunhua led as vice chairman Akpabio urged for stronger Nigeria-China collaboration.
The Senate President acknowledged how Nigerian-China diplomatic ties progressed from initial hesitance to their present confident and strategic alliance over the past fifty years.
The Chinese success represents extended planning and determination that led to their development from poverty into a global power according to Akpabio.
China’s impact on Nigeria’s development
Akpabio praised the constructive influence China brings to Nigeria’s infrastructure development by helping the nation advance its transportation sector and technological base and industrial sector.
He emphasized the tangible results resulting from Chinese investments that brought roads and railways as well as ports which opening new pathways for economic growth, therefore emphasizing Nigeria-China partnership.
Through his description he defined these structures as human artifacts that symbolize the shared trust and cooperative relationship between both nations.
Nigeria-China partnership, commitment to deeper collaboration
During his official visit to Beijing President Bola Tinubu initiated negotiations for a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Nigeria and China according to the Senate President.
The agreement represents a pledge to create a shared future according to Akpabio who used a Chinese proverb which states “Those who want to go fast should go alone but those who aim for long distance travel should go together.”
During his visit he strengthened Nigeria’s position to modernize together with China to build peace and achieve shared prosperity.
Fostering cooperation between institutions
Akpabio commended the CPPCC for building political unity in China while promoting cooperative initiatives that unite the Nigerian National Assembly with the CPPCC through parliamentary diplomacy and inter-institutional collaboration.
Through his observation he considered how these China-Africa cooperation platforms like Forum on China-Africa Cooperation together with the Belt and Road Initiative create positive results in infrastructure and education, healthcare trade alongside digital technology and infrastructure development.
He stressed that diplomatic dialogue should remain active to solve problems created by trade imbalances as well as visa reciprocity issues.
