Kebbi State’s Executive Council has approved N4.05 billion for the rehabilitation of seven general hospitals across the state, in what officials describe as part of a wider effort to strengthen healthcare delivery.
The council reached the decision at a meeting in Birnin Kebbi chaired by Governor Nasir Idris. Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Junaidu Marshall, told reporters the move reflects the administration’s resolve to modernize medical infrastructure and bring services closer to the people.

The hospitals to benefit include those in Kambaza, Suru, Kamba, Dirin-Daji, Kangiwa, Koko, and Yauri. Marshall said 16 other general hospitals have already been rehabilitated, and facilities in Argungu and nearby communities are completed or nearing completion.
He added that the state aims to upgrade all 30 general hospitals in Kebbi before the end of Governor Idris’s tenure.
In a related decision, the council approved N570 million to the Kebbi Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) to register 45,000 vulnerable residents under the state’s social health program. The funding, he further explained, would support healthcare access in all 225 wards.

Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Abba Sani-Kalgo, announced a separate N900 million take-off grant for the newly created Kebbi State Bureau of Statistics, which will generate reliable data for planning.
Agriculture Commissioner Shehu Mu’azu also said the council approved N3 billion to buy 2,000 power tillers under the Kaura Development Agenda and set aside N1.4 billion for school furniture across the state.
