Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has presented a ₦914,863,422,871 budget estimate for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, promising transparency, accountability, and sustained collaboration in driving the state’s development goals.

The presentation on Wednesday followed a brief plenary session and included the unveiling of the State Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) for 2026–2028.

Mutfwang said the documents were designed to promote sustainable planning, efficient resource allocation, and fiscal discipline across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). Furthermore he said that the budget was the result of “diligence, vision, and a deep sense of responsibility.” This shows how committed his administration is to providing good service and good governance.

The budget of ₦914.8 billion is all about keeping costs down

“I salute your courage, forthrightness, and resilience,” Mutfwang said, thanking the House of Assembly for its consistent partnership. “Together, we can sustain democratic stability and accelerate the state’s developmental agenda.”

He also called for citizens’ participation, stressing that Plateau’s rebuilding and transformation require collective effort beyond political lines. “The future and destiny of our dear state rest in our collective hands,” he also said, urging peace, unity, and shared responsibility.

In his response, Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Naanlong Daniel, commended the Governor’s detailed presentation and assured that lawmakers would give the 2026 budget speedy but thorough consideration.

He also reaffirmed the Assembly’s readiness to collaborate with the executive arm, pledging that every legislative decision would prioritise the welfare and interests of Plateau citizens.

Daniel finally said the House remained committed to ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency in the execution of the ₦914.8 billion spending plan, which aims to balance growth with accountability.
