Abia State Governor Alex Otti pledged to deepen collaboration with the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers on Tuesday, welcoming the institution’s national delegation to Government House in Umuahia.

Otti received the delegation ahead of the institution’s estate surveyors conference, running from April 13 to April 18 at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia, the first time Abia State has hosted the annual gathering. “We consider ourselves partners to institutions and individuals who share our vision and aspiration for a better society,” Otti said. “We have worked closely with members of this institution in Abia State, and we intend to strengthen that collaboration.”

Otti directs commissioners to support surveyors’ work

Meanwhile, Otti pledged to instruct his commissioners to work closely alongside the institution, assuring the delegation of full government support. “I will instruct my commissioners to work closely with you. Our people are also ready to provide all the necessary support you may require,” he said.

Furthermore, Otti thanked the institution for choosing Abia as its conference host and reiterated plans to establish a five-star hotel in Umuahia, citing the need for improved accommodation as the city attracts more national events.

The estate surveyors conference carries the theme “Corridors, Connectivity and Capital: Rethinking Real Estate Development Along Renewed Hope Infrastructure Investments.”

NIESVS president cites Otti’s reforms as investment catalyst

Victor Alonge, president and chairman of council of the institution, expressed appreciation for the state’s support and said members remained committed to delivering professional services in line with global best practices and ethics.

Moreover, Alonge noted that Otti’s reform initiatives had opened Abia to both local and foreign investment, strengthening the state’s economy. He also said institution members had contributed to the state through policy formulation, land administration, asset management, housing and project development.

Additionally, Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, commissioners for Housing, Lands and Survey and Agriculture and other senior government officials attended the meeting.
