The African Action Congress, AAC, in Badagry, Lagos State, has called on the police to investigate an alleged attack on its members during a political awareness campaign in the area.

In a statement issued on Sunday, October 25, 2026, the party said members of its field engagement team were confronted by five individuals on Saturday, October 24, while conducting political outreach and recording footage at Ita Hassan Junction, between Mosafejo and Aradagun.

According to the party, the incident occurred near a location displaying an All Progressives Congress (APC) banner.

AAC Badagry said its members were waving their party flag and engaging residents when the confrontation began. The party alleged that the individuals ordered the delegation to leave the area and stop waving its flag near the APC banner.

The party identified one of the individuals as Ahmed, who allegedly initiated the confrontation by shouting at the AAC members and pushing members of the delegation.

Another individual, identified as Anthony, allegedly punched Emmanuel Zinsu, an AAC member who was recording the engagement with his mobile phone.

According to the party’s statement, Zinsu sustained a neck injury and was bleeding after the alleged assault.

AAC Badagry said it had video footage documenting the incident and had identified two eyewitnesses who could provide information to investigators. It added that medical documentation relating to Zinsu’s injury was being obtained.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and the source report did not include a response from the individuals accused of involvement.

AAC Asks Police to Identify Those Responsible

AAC Badagry urged the Nigeria Police Force and relevant divisional and area authorities to investigate the incident promptly.

The party called on the police to examine the available video footage, obtain statements from eyewitnesses, establish the identities of those involved and take appropriate action in accordance with the law.

It also said it was prepared to cooperate with investigators by providing the footage, witness information and medical documentation once available.

The party maintained that a thorough investigation was necessary to establish what happened and ensure that anyone found responsible was dealt with through the appropriate legal process.

The AAC condemned the alleged violence, stressing that political disagreements and party affiliations should not be used to justify attacks or intimidation.

It said all political parties and their members should be able to carry out lawful political activities peacefully and without fear.

The party also called on political actors and their supporters to respect the safety and rights of others, regardless of their political affiliations.

The incident raises concerns about the safety of political campaign teams conducting grassroots engagement, particularly where party symbols and competing political interests may become sources of tension.

AAC Badagry reiterated its commitment to peaceful political participation and said it would work with the authorities to support the investigation.
