The International Public Relations Association (IPRA) has praised the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, for increasing revenue and improving operations in his first 100 days in office.
In a statement on Wednesday, IPRA Secretary-General Philip Sheppard highlighted the recognition of the NCS last week when it received the Golden World Award for Crisis Communication. The award was presented in Belgrade, Serbia, to honor the NCS for its excellent public relations work.
Adeniyi accepted the award on behalf of the NCS from IPRA President Nataša Pavlović Bujas. The award was linked to the “100 Days of Impactful PR at Customs Service” campaign, which Sheppard praised for its achievements.
“Under Wale Adeniyi’s leadership, the campaign brought better cooperation with stakeholders, improved border security, and boosted revenue. It also brought new hope to the organization,” Sheppard said.
Impactful leadership in 100 days
According to a report by Punch, Adeniyi reflected on the success of the campaign, explaining how it helped the NCS handle the challenges of his first 100 days. The campaign, which focused on crisis communication, was recognized for solving the problems the service was facing.
“This campaign was about managing a crisis. The award shows that we were able to solve the issues and deliver positive results,” Adeniyi said.
Adeniyi also mentioned that the campaign helped the NCS work better with stakeholders, improve border security, and increase revenue. He added that the award shows the NCS is committed to meeting international standards in communication and governance.
Commitment to better communication
Adeniyi confirmed that the NCS will continue to communicate openly with its partners. He said that the service plays an important role in promoting national security and economic growth through its public relations efforts.
“Our focus is on building stronger relationships with both traditional and new partners by continuing to communicate well,” Adeniyi said, stressing the need to listen to and address the concerns of stakeholders.
The Golden World Awards, created in 1990, recognize excellence in public relations across various categories.
