President Bola Tinubu has issued a new directive aimed at cutting costs as ministers and heads of federal agencies are limited to a maximum three vehicles in their official convoys.
Announcing the measure, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga said it would reduce government expenditure.
Ministers put on three-car convoy limit by Tinubu
In line with the directive, officials will no longer be assigned additional vehicles and the restriction is immediate.
Tinubu had earlier attempted to cut costs, including reducing his entourage on foreign trips from 50 to 20 and limiting the Vice President’s convoy to five attendees at foreign trips and 15 for local engagements.
Streamlined operations by reducing security personnel
President Tinubu also directed that a vehicle limit be placed on ministers, heads of agencies, who will henceforth be allowed no more than five security personnel that must comprise four police officers and a DSS officer.
He asked the National Security Adviser to take the necessary reduction in vehicle and security personnel deployments for the affected officials with the requisite security agencies.
According to Vanguard, Tinubu’s directive is part of the wider bid to bring government spending under control and promote fiscal responsibility.
