In a bold move to combat Nigeria’s persistent electricity supply challenges, Westa Solar has unveiled a groundbreaking 990kWp solar installation at Aspira Nigeria Limited. This announcement, made on Monday, signifies a significant leap forward in overcoming the barriers that have hindered industrialization and foreign investments in the region.

Westa Solar’s unwavering commitment to renewable energy has culminated in the expansion of its solar capacity, serving as a testament to its dedication to addressing Nigeria’s power crisis. The introduction of solar energy is poised to bridge the power supply gap, offering clean, reliable, and sustainable energy to businesses throughout the country.

The company’s commitment to renewable energy has been unwavering, with a track record of success. In 2022, Westa Solar secured a mezzanine loan of over $1 million from the Development Bank of Austria, marking a significant milestone in its journey to harness the power of the sun.

The Power Purchase Agreement model pioneered by Westa Solar offers a robust solution for stable power supply. It encompasses financing, design, procurement, installation, and maintenance of rooftop and ground-mounted solar projects for commercial and industrial clients in West Africa. This holistic approach helps clients overcome the substantial initial capital investment typically required for large turn-key solutions, ensuring competitive energy costs in comparison to the combination of grid electricity, diesel, or gas generators.

“In the past two months, Westa Solar has managed the seamless operation of its new solar rooftop power plant of 990KWp at Aspira Nigeria Limited, located in Kano State. This project is expected to offset over 18,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions during its lifetime, with estimated cost savings of N2.5 billion for Aspira Nigeria Limited,” the company proudly announced.

Furthermore, this achievement adds to the success of the earlier commissioning of a 396kWp solution at Angel Spinning and Dyeing Limited. Westa Solar’s Power Purchase Agreement model is gaining momentum, and its total installed capacity now stands at an impressive 3MWp of solar energy.

Westa Solar’s impactful efforts in expanding solar installations are a beacon of hope for Nigeria’s energy landscape. With reliable and sustainable solar power, the nation can look forward to a brighter future, improved industrialization, and an enhanced environment for foreign investments.

As the sun shines brighter on the future of energy in Nigeria, Westa Solar continues to lead the way, illuminating a path towards a greener, more prosperous tomorrow. With each solar project, they take one step closer to powering Nigeria with clean, renewable energy, and inspiring other nations to follow suit.
