A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for Bola Tinubu, Jesutega Onokpasa, has criticized the ongoing internal conflicts within the ruling party. He emphasized the need to halt the alleged gang-up against key figures like former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai.
Onokpasa, a steadfast supporter of President Tinubu, voiced concerns over the discord and hostility among party members. He claimed that certain individuals within the APC and Tinubu’s administration were plotting against Bello and el-Rufai. According to him, these actions undermine the significant contributions these figures made to Tinubu’s rise to power.
He specifically criticized some of Tinubu’s appointees for using their positions to target Bello and el-Rufai. Onokpasa stressed the invaluable support both former governors provided during the election.
“Yahaya Bello and Nasir el-Rufai played crucial roles in our victory. Their support was immense,” Onokpasa stated. “It’s disappointing to see them being targeted by their own party members. This internal strife only benefits the opposition.”
In a video, Onokpasa also lamented the plight of APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and his family. He accused political rivals of vendetta and expressed dismay over internal party conflicts.
He did not spare the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing it of bias and corruption. Onokpasa described the EFCC as “the most corrupt institution in the country” and criticized its handling of Bello’s case.
“Why are we tearing ourselves apart? The EFCC is not fighting corruption; they are trying to extort money from Yahaya Bello,” he said. “This infighting is weakening us while the opposition regroups.”
Onokpasa urged APC members to reflect on their actions and focus on unity. He warned that the party’s disarray could lead to its downfall if not addressed.
“We need to stop attacking each other and start working together. Our opponents are getting stronger while we fight among ourselves,” Onokpasa warned. “Bello and el-Rufai stood with us when it mattered. We should not abandon them now.”
Onokpasa expressed his continued support for Bello and el-Rufai, denouncing those within the party who undermine their efforts. He highlighted the transient nature of political power and urged party members to prioritize unity and cooperation.
“Power is fleeting. We must remember that others will replace us. Let’s not destroy our party from within,” he cautioned. “Stop tormenting our members for personal gain. We need to stand united behind President Tinubu.”
Onokpasa also criticized the actions of some party members, accusing them of being more interested in personal gain than in supporting the president. He called for a focus on addressing national issues like inflation and economic stability.
“These internal conflicts do nothing to help President Tinubu. We should be working to reduce inflation and stabilize prices, not fighting among ourselves,” he said. “Let’s support our president and focus on what truly matters.”
Onokpasa’s remarks underscore the need for unity within the APC. As the ruling party, maintaining cohesion is crucial for effective governance and the implementation of Tinubu’s agenda.
He concluded by urging genuine supporters of Tinubu to stand firm and resist internal divisions. According to him, the party’s success depends on unity and collective effort.
“Let’s support each other and our president. We can’t afford to be divided,” Onokpasa said. “Together, we can achieve great things for our country.”
The call for unity within the APC comes at a critical time. With the opposition gaining momentum, the ruling party must address its internal conflicts to remain effective. Onokpasa’s appeal highlights the importance of solidarity and mutual support within the party.
By fostering a spirit of cooperation and addressing internal issues, the APC can strengthen its position and continue to work towards national development. The party’s success hinges on unity and a shared commitment to progress.
