Lagos to adopt e-call Up system for regulation of trucks on Lekki-Epe axis
The Lagos State Government releases an e-call up system for another management of the movement of truck in the Lekki-Epe axis. The new system which is developed to reduce incidences of serious traffic jam resulting from parking and movement of articulated trucks, will come into operation from September 23, 2024.
This was made known by the State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi in a statement that was personally signed by Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola, the Deputy Director of Public Affairs of the ministry.
Osiyemi was most insistent however, that this system was a sustainable one founded on technology to solve traffic issues in the area.
“The e-call up system is now ready for use in order to maintain a constant and controlled traffic on the Lekki-Epe expressway,” he stated and further Henry said that the start date of the e-call up system had been deferred to allow for a better compliance with the regulation by the user.

The e-call up system will control the flow of trucks that are to transport goods into the Lekki Deep Seaport and other businesses along this route from the Eleko Junction to Lekki FTZ.
The Lekki Free Trade Zone that hosts several economic boosters like Dangote Refinery and Lekki Deep Sea Port is strategic to the growth of Lagos Economy.
Osiyemi stated that the system would assist in regulating the movement of trucks in view of other complementary state and federal plans on improvement of road transport networks and adoption of an inter modal transport system.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Mr. Sola Giwa admitted that the preliminary steps are being taken already in order to remove illegally parked articulated vehicles off the roads in preparation towards the overall launching of the system.
“The e-call up system is aimed at effectively timetabling and choreographing the movement of trucks that are accessing the Lekki-Epe corridor, and avoiding traffic mayhem,” explained Giwa.
According to The Vanguard, he equally embellished that free movement of goods and services along the Lekki-Epe corridor is very crucial in advancing the economy of the state and therefore described the e-call up system as a useful tool for enhancing the state’s development.
This is because the new system is expected to make the flow of traffic to be enhanced, safety achieved and the effects on the environment due to the movement of the truck to be reduced through strict adherence to the set schedules and routes for the movement of these trucks.
