The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, FORMOSO, in Brass Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, has provided free medical care to approximately 2,000 inhabitants of Beletieama, one of its host communities.
According to PUNCH Online, the Navy performed a wellness survey to determine the community’s prevalent health concerns before picking it for the medical outreach and deciding on the services supplied.
The free medical services offered were routine check-ups, medication, health education, insecticide-treated net distribution, and free medicated glasses.
The Executive Officer to FOB FORMOSO’s Commanding Officer, Captain Ifeanyichukwu Charles Mabeokwu represented him at the occasion on Sunday. The name of the Executive Officer was Muhammad Abdullahi Gada.
Gada explained that the exercise aimed to enhance civil-military cooperation between the community and FOB FORMOSO.
Operation delta sanity III strengthens civil-military cooperation
Mabeokwu emphasized that the medical outreach was part of the non-kinetic tactics to Operation DELTA SANITY III. He stated, “The outreach is an important part of the Nigerian Navy’s corporate social responsibility.
It is our delight to ensure that approximately 2,000 people of the Beletieama community benefit from our general healthcare services, led by Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, Chief of Naval Staff.
“The turnout is impressive, and I am confident that the overall objectives of this exercise will be achieved.” During the exercise, participants were encouraged to take full advantage of the opportunity and treat any health concerns as soon as possible.
Residents express gratitude for free medical services
One of the recipients, Chief Darius Ebenezer, thanked the Nigerian Navy for the free medical treatment and expressed happiness with the amount of tests performed and drugs provided.
Mrs. Biolagha David, another beneficiary, expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Navy for selecting the community for the medical outreach.
She remarked that her people were overjoyed with the gesture from FOB FORMOSO and promised to hold the Nigerian Navy in high esteem.
