Tinubu’s reforms will stabilize economy, Onyema urges patience

KEY POINTS

  • Air Peace CEO Onyema also urges patience as Tinubu wants to stabilize Nigeria’s economy.
  • Tinubu’s ‘real restructure’ is with onyema’s approach as it’s the only systemic shift in business activities.
  • In aviation sector, Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo says there are changes.

Onyema praised the business minded approach of the President who he said has already started improving the aviation sector when he spoke after a meeting with President Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.

And the problem is, the President is a business man, trying to stabilize businesses using his policies, but people don’t realize this. Not everybody, mind you, but some of us who are in business have a sense of what he’s doing. Onyema said the division is real restructuring, not just regional, ‘changing the way we do things to get better results’.

He also admitted that the current economic situation is tough, but Onyema defended that Tinubu’s policies will bring long term benefits. He called on Nigerians to be patient and be supportive as government is working on pushing through these changes.

Long term economic restructuring

The difference between the traditional version of restructuring one linked to regional division, and Tinubu’s version was expatiated by Onyema. He said Tinubu’s policy revolves around systemic change, especially around the way businesses operate in Nigeria.

Onyema said the reforms would be a lasting benefit to businesses and citizens. Tinubu’s administration has taken steps to help ease the cost of doing business, especially in the area of aviation, he said.

The minister of aviation, Festus Keyamo, is also implementing proactive policy changes to ensure that the industry grows, he said too. However, Onyema said that citizens should only focus on the long term effect of these policies, as they would ultimately ease the short term hardships that would accompany them.

According to Onyema, Nigeria is on the path to sustainable economic growth, particularly from the standpoint of the present hardship being endured by Nigerians due to President Tinubu’s administration’s accommodative avenue towards real restructuring.
