The former presidential spokesman, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has described the recent visit of President Bola Tinubu to Enugu State as a pivotal one that would help unite the country and facilitate development.

Okupe, referring to the visit as a ‘game changer,’ said Tinubu had opened his heart toward the South-East region and remained committed to it.

Tinubu’s South-East development commitment

During the visit, he commended the president for showing a square head during his visit and supporting developmental projects in the South East by President Tinubu.

Okupe, said that “he spoke openly and candidly from his heart and made a serious commitment on developmental projects in the region.’

Okupe acknowledged that the region needed more attention from the nation and therefore Tinubu’s gestures to the region as a testament to his goodwill and fairness mindedness. He also stressed the need to prioritise the South-East for the country’s unity and stability.

Connecting the political divides

Okupe also quoted late Igbo leader Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu, who once described the absence of East West alliances as a threat to Nigeria’s unity.

Okupe also advised Tinubu to keep building bridges all over the nation for political stability and peaceful coexistence.

While in the state, President Tinubu inaugurated projects executed by Governor Peter Mbah, indicating the readiness of his administration to partner with the South East to advance the course of national development.
