The military trial court at the Nigerian Army headquarters of the 82 Division in Enugu Province condemned Private Adamu Mohammed to death by hanging because he killed his girlfriend.

Private Abubakar Yusuf received a 10-year prison term by the court for his role in robbery crimes. After Major General Oluyemi Olatoye inaugurated the GCM on February 18, 2025 the 11-member trial court reached its decision to deliver the death by hanging sentence to Private Adamu Mohammed.

Lt. Col. Jonah Unuakhalu who serves as the acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the division reported that the court arrived at its unanimous decision by thoroughly evaluating all evidence together with service history and mitigation arguments submitted by Mohammed’s team.

Murder of Hauwa Ali and robbery conviction

General Sadisu Buhari who served as President of GCM declared Mohammed guilty for murdering his girlfriend Hauwa Ali which violated Section 106 (a) of the Armed Forces Act Cap A20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

The law served both the public standards of conduct and justice for the deceased person therefore needed to be delivered in full measure according to Buhari.

The sentence imposed upon Private Adamu Mohammed (service number 21NA/80/6365) consisted of execution by hanging.

Military court sentences soldier for robbery

Private Abubakar Yusuf also received a 10-year prison term after the court convicted him for robbing a commercial establishment within Enugu. Furthermore responding to the need for military accountability and discipline the court passed this judgment as part of current initiatives.
