In an effort to improve security and surveillance throughout the country’s inland waterways, the Nigerian Navy plans to open a new operational base in Kebbi State.

The announcement was made while the state governor was receiving a courtesy call from senior naval officials. According to authorities, the base will promote regional stability in northwest Nigeria and assist in keeping an eye on the surge of illicit activity along important riverine corridors.
