The Anambra State Police Command has locked down identified flashpoints across the state as voters head to the polls for Saturday’s bye-elections.

The exercise covers two constituencies the Anambra South Senatorial District and Onitsha North 1 state constituency where voters will elect a senator and a lawmaker to the House of Assembly.

Heavy deployments across sensitive areas

Police spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga said personnel and operational assets had been massively deployed across sensitive locations to prevent disruptions and ensure what he described as a “hitch-free, peaceful, and credible electoral process.”

Assistant Inspector General of Police Godwin Eze, who is supervising the election, assured residents of adequate security before, during, and after the vote.

Voters urged to turn out without fear in the Anambra bye-elections

Eze called on citizens to cooperate with security agencies, remain law-abiding, and exercise their civic duty without fear or intimidation.

The command also reiterated its neutrality and professionalism, promising to focus strictly on protecting lives, property, and the integrity of the electoral process.
