This year’s anniversary theme, “Humanities as the Tech Solution to Global Crisis in 21st Century Africa,” reflects the faculty’s commitment to addressing issues such as governance, climate change, artificial intelligence, migration, and sustainable development.

Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Akanbi Mudasiru Ilupeju, said the fund would allow the humanities to remain central to discussions around technology and national development. “With the endowment fund, we will be able to enhance infrastructure, support research, and create opportunities that will empower the next generation of scholars,” Ilupeju said.

The celebration will take place from October 19 to October 25, 2025, featuring academic sessions, cultural showcases, and social gatherings. It will close with a Gala Night and Award Dinner at the Protea by Marriott Select Hotel, Alausa, Ikeja, chaired by High Chief ’Tunde Fanimokun. Special guests include Vice Chancellor Folasade T. Ogunsola, former Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi, lawyer Dr. Elvis Labode, HRM Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, and lawmaker Kafilat Moyosore Ogbara.

Shonubi urged alumni, corporate organizations, and the wider public to support the endowment. “Together, let us honour 60 years of scholarly distinction while committing to a future where the arts are no longer underfunded but fully empowered to shape society,” he said.
