Yemi Osinbajo, a former Vice President of Nigeria, has been named the main speaker at ÆLEX’s 19th Annual Lecture. ÆLEX is one of the best law firms in West Africa. The lecture, which has become a regular event on the legal and policy calendar in the area, will take place later this month in Lagos.

Osinbajo, a professor of law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, will give a speech that covers governance, policy reform, and the direction of Africa’s development, according to the organisers. His selection is in line with the lecture series’ tradition of featuring well-known thinkers whose ideas shape the conversation in the country and region.

Osinbajo will give the 19th Annual ÆLEX Lecture

According to a report by Vanguard news, the ÆLEX partners say that the 2025 edition will deal with issues like Africa’s economic change, the rule of law, and institutional accountability. Osinbajo was Nigeria’s vice president from 2015 to 2023. He is expected to use his knowledge of law, politics, and government to help him.

Oghogho Akpata, the firm’s managing partner, said, “The ÆLEX Lecture has always been about ideas that drive change.” “Professor Osinbajo not only knows a lot about the law, but he also knows a lot about making policy at the highest levels.”

A long history of thought leadership in Africa

The ÆLEX Annual Lecture has been going on since 2005. It has brought together presidents, economists, lawyers, and policymakers to talk about Africa’s most important problems. Former Ghanaian President John Mahama, economist Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala before she was appointed to the WTO, and Nobel Prize winner Wole Soyinka are some of the people who have spoken before.

The organisers say that this year’s theme will be about creating systems in Africa that can last through political upheaval and changes in the global economy. Osinbajo will probably talk about how important institutions, openness, and getting people involved are for growth that lasts beyond elections.

People from all over the world and from the area are expected to come to the event

Judges, lawyers, diplomats, policymakers, and academics will all be there, both in person and online. This will make the event one of the best intellectual gatherings on the continent. The lecture brings together people from all over Africa and beyond. It’s a place to share ideas and build partnerships and plans.

As Nigeria and other African countries deal with problems with governance and the need for structural reforms, people say they will pay close attention to Osinbajo’s lecture for both its content and its meaning. They say that his comments could shape policy debates that go beyond the walls of the conference hall.
