Nigerian rapper and rights activist Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has called on President Bola Tinubu to resign following a fresh wave of deadly insecurity across the country.

His demand follows the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba in Borno State, two incidents that have reignited national concern over worsening violence.

Falz posted his remarks on X late Wednesday, quoting Tinubu’s own words from 2014 when the then–opposition leader urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to step down for failing to contain insurgency.

Tinubu security criticism resurfaces as violence spreads

In the resurfaced 2014 post, Tinubu accused Jonathan of lacking the will and capacity to protect citizens. “You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW,” Falz wrote, echoing Tinubu’s original accusation.

Falz’s criticism has gained traction amid widespread outrage over the weekend attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga. Gunmen killed a vice principal and abducted 25 students, deepening fears in a region long scarred by kidnappings.

Tinubu’s earlier remarks had been central to the APC’s 2015 campaign message, where he rebuked Jonathan’s handling of Boko Haram. At the time, Tinubu argued that a Commander-in-Chief who could not protect any part of Nigeria should step down, asserting that persistent excuses reflected leadership failure.

Public frustration grows as insecurity persists

The killing of Brigadier General Uba in Borno has intensified national unease. Security experts say the incident underscores the resilience of insurgent groups despite years of government offensives. Falz, known for his activism during the EndSARS movement, framed his statement as a reminder of Tinubu’s own yardstick for leadership accountability.

The government has yet to issue a response to Falz’s comments. Meanwhile, citizens continue to express frustration as kidnapping, banditry and insurgent attacks persist across multiple states, raising questions about the administration’s security strategy.
