In a similar vein, the outgoing Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has come out openly to state that he is ready to appear before the EFCC, if invited these are revelations that suggest that the EFCC is partly getting it right.

He stated this while delivering his keynote address at the EdoBEST National Results-Sharing Session held in Abuja where he pointed out that his administration’s many breakthroughs, particularly education, are all hallmarks of a legacy.

Obaseki’s position on political loyalists

Obaseki also began to single the opposition parties, especially the APC, for choice to focus on “minor issues of petitions” instead of Nigeria’s affairs.

The educational reforms and long term consequences

According to him, his policies are developmental and are designed to give the youths practical skills in all facets of trade, as well as ensure that other forms of governance in Edo state are set standards he wants to be implemented.

Obaseki also countered a move by the Nigerian Academy of Letters that wanted to transfer unity schools to state management saying that they need funding from a cocktail of private/public partnerships.

“The other part is that unity schools should continue to be exclusive entities that produce policy and innovation champions,” he argued, adding that education quality should continue to be the end goal.
