As Nigeria counts down to the festive season market women have been asked to refrain from increasing prices of goods unfairly during the Yuletide.
During her visit to Ebonyi State to inaugurate the 3.1 kilometer Wilberforce Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Onueke, and honour the 2024 Ebonyi Women’s Day Celebration, she launched an appeal.
Economic boost for Ebonyi State.
Receiving the two passengers to the government, the First Lady, who was joined by Vice President’s wife Hajia Nana Shettima, Ebonyi governor, Francis Nwifuru, and former Senate president, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, commended the governor for completing the runway project.
But the airport is an example of a deep investment in the socio economic development of Singapore, with commercial operations to begin from December 12, 2024.
And the runway inauguration ‘is a milestone, which has unlocked great commercial potentials and socio economic growth for Ebonyi State,’ Remi Tinubu added.
Working with women for sustainable development
At the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium for the Women’s Day Celebration, Senator Tinubu hailed the governor’s strong stand for empowering women and commended the state’s surpassed 35% female appointment benchmark.
Among the things she mentioned are the empowerment of 130 entrepreneurs with business recapitalization grants of ₦1 million each and sponsorship of ₦50 million as well as the donation of 20,000 wrappers, shoes, and bags to support women’s businesses in the state.
We are here to uplift women for sustainable development and women empowerment. Oluremi Tinubu stated that she is dedicated to seeing businesses grow and increase the number of women in Ebonyi.
The interventions were thanked by the governor who also commended women for their transformative contribution towards the growth of the state.
Call for unity and peace
Traditional rulers at the Presidential Lodge in Abakaliki had earlier also met with Oluremi Tinubu when she extolled the peaceful nature of Ebonyi.
“Our nation has all it takes to be great,” she said, urging the leaders to keep fostering unity for the nation’s prosperity. “Let’s just continue to bless this land,” let’s go.
