Ogun State Boosts Youths with Grants and Leadership Opportunities

Governor Abiodun launches empowerment initiatives for business-minded youths

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development, emphasizing the vital role young people play in shaping the future. 

At the First Annual Youth Summit and Empowerment Programme in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun announced substantial grants and programs to foster entrepreneurship and prepare youth for leadership.

Represented by Deputy Chief of Staff Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the governor highlighted the Ogun Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Programme (Ogun YES), which offers grants ranging from N500,000 to N1 million to business-oriented youths.

“As an administration, we are committed to ensuring the youth are not only participants but leaders in making decisions that affect their lives,” said Abiodun.

Entrepreneurship and innovation take center stage

Governor Abiodun unveiled additional programs targeting youth, including the upcoming Ogun Youth Agricultural Programme, which will train thousands in advanced farming technologies.

“The youth have the energy, potential, and resolve to transform our communities and the world at large,” Abiodun said. 

He encouraged participants to embrace the theme of the summit, “Renewed Hope Agenda: A Concrete Foundation For A Prosperous Nigeria,” as a call to innovate and reshape the nation’s future.

The governor’s initiatives align with the administration’s “Building Our Future Together” mantra. 

According to Punch, he commended the City Boy Movement’s Abeokuta chapter for their dedication and urged stakeholders to support youth empowerment programs actively.

Federal support and stakeholder contributions

Other key speakers at the summit also underscored the importance of youth-focused initiatives. 

O’tega Ogra, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital Communication and New Media, highlighted the federal government’s National Student Loan Scheme, which has already benefited over 300,000 students.

Rinsola Abiola, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership, praised Governor Abiodun’s efforts, noting they align with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for uplifting youth.

Meanwhile, Kamorudeen Yusuf, Personal Assistant to the President on Special Duties, urged youths to take advantage of the reforms and play active roles in nation-building.

Governor Abiodun’s comprehensive approach to youth empowerment, from financial grants to leadership training, shows a commitment to fostering a generation of innovators and leaders who will drive Ogun State and Nigeria forward.
